William Corbett

About (Biography)

Born in Surbiton, Surrey, England, William Corbett spent his early years listening to Punk Rock records and playing guitar.

He studied art, Photography, and literature, as a student at various colleges, but academia would have to wait, as his first love, music, called him to work as a DJ in Hong Kong, Thailand and Mexico.

On his return to the UK in 1998 he resumed his career as a photographer, working in fashion and music (he produced CD covers for Alabama 3 and Zodiac Mindwarp and the Love Reaction) as well as a series of books recording the portraits of drinkers in Soho members clubs, from which he produced two books Gerry-go-round (2007) and Behind the Green Door (2011).

In 2008 he was interviewed in Essaouira, Morocco by the New York Times;

“Nice touch, that,” quipped Bill Corbett, a 39-year-old London photographer, D.J. and music fanatic whose visit to Essaouira, an exotic, wind- and sun-swept Moroccan city on the northwest coast of Africa, for the 10th-annual Gnawa and World Music Festival, would prove a transforming experience. “This really is a midsummer night’s dream.”

Her first novel, Eye of the Hurricane, received wide acclaim and earned J.Q. several prestigious awards. Since that time, J.Q. has penned nearly a dozen novels and historical hardcover books.

J.Q. is now working on her first screenplay which is due to be completed early next year. "J.Q.'s love of storytelling is infectious", said one loyal reader at a recent book signing, "Once you read one, you have to read all of her books".
